Your three trail course starts at the Catalina State Park trailhead and starts with the Birding Trail (counterclockwise), then off to the Canyon Loop (counterclockwise) and then to the Nature Trail (counterclockwise). This time you get to go down the “92 Stair Climb” and still up and down a bunch of stairs on the Birding Trail! Terrain consists of desert mountain trails and creeks, all with mostly moderate climbs and descents. Elevation ranges from 2799 to 3008 feet. 10.3 miler open only to runners. Catalina State Park Entry:
On-site parking is limited to 115 cars in designated spots only. Carpooling is suggested and encouraged. No parking on the park roads. Park entry fee is $7 per car. Very important: when you are driving into the park please stay as far left as possible so that our shuttle pass can easily pass on your right when incoming traffic is stopped at the pay booth.
Shuttle bus information: park entry is free on the bus!
Everyone Runs will provide a quick and easy free shuttle bus from the Oro Valley Market Place shopping center, directly across the street from the Catalina State Park entrance. The bus will pick-up & return to the south end parking area by Red Lobster, which is to your right when you turn in off of Oracle Rd. The bus will leave at 4:50 a.m. 5:10 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 5:50 a.m., 6:10 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. if necessary. Everyone entered in the 10 miler and 5k should do their best to avoid taking the 6:10 a.m. shuttle. We cannot be responsible for getting you to the race on time. DO NOT take the last shuttle if you are in the 10 or 5k (your race starts at 6:30a.m.) or you plan on race-day packet pick-up or registration. If you miss the last bus, or there is no room for you on that bus, you are on your own to get to the start line on-time. We will start this race promptly at 6:30 (10 & 5k) and 6:50 (5 miler). The bus will also provide return trips near the finish line as the race concludes.
This race is chip timed. Your race timing chip will only be available on race morning at our white tents near the picnic area at the end of the parking lot.
Switching event distance: if you want to switch your race distance, you must email the race director by Friday, September 23, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Switching distances during the race causes extreme problems with providing accurate results and delays our ability to post them in a timely fashion. If you switch distances during the trail race (typically 10 miler to 5 miler) your time will not count for any awards.
The TMC Veterans Day Half Marathon & 5K at Old Tucson
NOVEMBER 11, 2018
Welcome to the 14th edition of the Everyone Runs TMC Veterans Day Half Marathon & 5k, unquestionably Tucson’s premier and most beautiful course running in the majestic Tucson Mountain Park!
You’ll want to make this Fall half marathon your goal race for the season and plan it as a part of your training, as the course will be challenging for sure. With the beauty of this area, and hardly a building or home in-site, plus excellent roads, this race is the one you’ll want to run.
Your half marathon will start at Old Tucson (same start line as Run with the Roosters Kinney Rd. 5 Miler) and the course will travel north on Kinney Rd, passing the Desert Museum and then heading west to your turnaround at Sandario Rd. On your return, you will run about 3-miles and then head southeast on McCain Loop Rd. where the magnificent cactus and tree lined Tucson Mountain Park will open-up to you in full glory! At the end of McCain Loop, you will head back on Kinney Rd to your finish at Old Tucson.
Yes, as you will see in our map, this course features many hills and steady grades, but that means there are fast downhills, too! HALF MARATHON MAP: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1456090306 5K MAP: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1456090306
The half marathon will only be open to runners and run & walkers. Walkers will be accepted in the 5k, but not the half. The 5k course will be just as beautiful and is a simple out & back on Kinney Rd.
We will even be featuring a stroller division for the 5k with 1st, 2nd & 3rd place overall awards (no age groups on this one).
Half marathon course support through 10:45 a.m. (3:30 time limit). A part of proceeds from this event will benefit local community groups and Veterans assistance organizations.

What do our runners and walkers think of Everyone Runs?
I want to let you know that I truly enjoyed the 5k at Old Tucson. The scenery was very nice, much nicer than walking in a crowded neighborhood. Also, the parking was fine and plenty of room on the property. I was very happy that I was able to attend again this year. My friend that was with me was also impressed with the scenery and how well you and your team ran the program. You and your team did a great job!
This was THE most gorgeous course ever!!! The views made the hills worth it we took our time to just take in all the natural beauty of our desert and enjoy ourselves (when you don't train much ahead of time because of the never ending heat. this is the BEST idea going into it). Thank you to Everyone Runs, Steve Landau, for an awesome event from start to finish! When the hills got tough, I thought of all the vets we were running for and how they've been through so much and that got me through
This is a great and appreciated event Steve Landau - a race supporting a good cause. I think the course is very challenging and beautiful. Thank you for the new, well-organized adventure!!!
Thank you! Really great course, beautiful and well executed. I have to say, on top of everything else that was absolutely perfect, the mileage was spot-on. Garmin beeped at precisely the mile-markers each time. That added to my amazement! Thanks again!!
Really enjoyed the 5k race, course was challenging enough, but not too hilly, and the views were amazing. Preferred the location to last year, but would love to see a 10k back. Great shirts as usual - best fit ever! Good set up and parking and facilities. Thanks again!
It was a perfect day and excellent race for everyone out there. We are blessed to have you and your amazing family in our community.
Saw you were working so hard to make this event happen the way it should. It came out perfect. I’m so thrilled to be the part of the inaugural Veterans Half Marathon today. Thank you for another awesome event.
Another excellent race - great course, fantastic support
It was a great run. Did the 5k and really enjoyed being out by Old Tucson instead of the previous location. Extremely easy to navigate the course. Parking as well as arrival & departure were easy as well.
Great run this morning! Thank you and your team so much for all your hard work to make this happen. Enjoyed the new location immensely! Ready to go again next year! Always enjoy your events!
Three cheers to Steve Landau (Everyone Runs) for executing a great Veterans Day half marathon/5K today! The course was extremely challenging and, as promised, the most scenic in Tucson. Special kudos to Brenda Landau, Matt Landau and all the volunteers.
I want say thanks to Steve Landau for a fabulous time today at The Veteran's Day Half Marathon. The course was challenging and the scenery was beautiful. The half marathon was also well supported and want to say thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who came out to cheer us on. I want say thanks to Deb Kortyna for the photo that I'm sharing. It's beautiful. Also a shout out to Richard Garn with Beast Pacing for all the encouragement. Jeffrey and I really appreciate all the work Steve puts into his races. Thanks for a fantastic run and morning!
